Alaska Anchorage men's and women's cross country teams remained perfect with team and individual victories at the 38th annual Western Classic Invitational Saturday in Bellingham.

The undefeated Seawolves were led by 2010 All-Americans Micah Chelimoand Ruth Keino in the races at East Lake Padden Park.

The sixth-ranked UAA women registered their fourth win of the season with 45 points. The University of Victoria (B.C.) came in second with 57 points. GNAC foes Simon Fraser (107) and host Western Washington finished fourth and fifth.

Collecting her fourth-straight win of the season was Keino who completed the 6K race with a time of 21:11. SFU's Jessica Smith finished third in a time of 21:31.

The UAA men, who are ranked No. 12 in the latest national poll, placed all five scorers in the top 16 for its fourth consecutive win on the year.

The Seawolves tallied 33 points to defeat second-place Victoria (43). WWU came in third with 86 points. Saint Martin's finished fifth with 131 points.

Chelimo earned his second individual win of the season with a 10K time of 31:05. UAA's Yonatan Yilmaclaimed his fourth Top 3 finish of the season with a third-place result at 31:24.

WOU's Everetts Places Third in Rose City Classic

Western Oregon's Janelle Everetts placed third in the Rose City Classic at Fern Hill Park in Portland Saturday covering the three-mile course in a time of 17:36.

Everetts paced the women's team for the third straight race. Chris Olsen was WOU's top finisher for the Wolf men who entered just three athletes in the “friendly” with the University of Portland. He placed seventh in a time of 20:59.

Nanooks Win Women's Team Title at Hawaii Hilo Invite

Alaska Fairbanks won the women's team title Saturday in the University of Hawaii Hilo Invitational run at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort Golf & Country Club.

Theresia Schnurr was UAF's top placer finishing third in the 5,000 meter in a time of 18:21.

The Nanooks also got a fourth from Raphaela Sieber and a fifth from Crystal Pitney in edging BYU-Hawaii 37-43.

Tyler Kornfield led UAF in the men's race placing sixth in a four-mile time of 21:28. The Nanooks only had two runners in the Top 10, but still managed to finish second in back of BYU-Hawaii.
