SEATTLE – Katy Gross and Ali Worthen didn't limit their All-American success to track and field. The two Seattle Pacific stars got it done in the classroom as well, and have been named to this year's CoSIDA Academic All-America squad.
They are among four GNAC athletes named to the team. Joining them on the All-American squad were Alfred Kangogo and Ruth Keino of Alaska Anchorage.
Gross (Everett, Wash. / Cascade HS) was the lone first team selection. Worthen (Coos Bay, Ore.) and Kangogo (Eldoret, Kenya) were second team selections and Keino (Kapcheno, Kenya) was a third team pick.
Both Gross and Worthen were selected for the second year in a row. Gross was a second team pick and Worthen was a third team pick in 2012.
The team includes athletes from cross country as well as track. Athletes must have a minimum 3.30 grade-point average to be nominated and have credible athletic accomplishments to go along with their work in class.
