PORTLAND, Ore. – Two of the top players on the top-two teams in the conference, Seattle Pacific senior guard Gavin Long and Western Washington senior forward Trevor Jasinsky lead the 2019-20 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team.

The two players are the lone three-time selections on the squad. Long, who has a 3.57 cumulative GPA as a physiology major, is averaging 11.7 points per game in 13 games this season. He has played a key role in the Falcons’ 16-5 overall record, which included a 14-game win streak that ran from mid-November to the end of January.

Jasinsky, who has a 3.48 GPA as a marketing major, leads the Vikings and ranks 11th in the GNAC in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 14.6 points and six rebounds per contest. A First Team All-GNAC selection in 2018-19, Jasinsky is a key cog for the Vikings as they sit second in the GNAC with an 8-5 mark, 13-8 overall.

A total of 21 student-athletes were named to the Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team, which honors excellence in the classroom while committing to the rigor of being part of a collegiate athletic program. Nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second season at the nominating institution.

Long and Jasinsky are among 10 repeat selections to the team. In addition, six student-athletes made the squad with a 3.7 GPA or greater., led Concordia senior guard David Wheeler and his 3.88 GPA as an accounting major. That list also includes Alaska Anchorage senior guard Jack Macdonald, Concordia senior guard Dom Bradley, Northwest Nazarene junior guard Sam Roth and Seattle Pacific junior guards Harry Cavell and Sharif Khan.

Concordia and Seattle Pacific lead conference institutions with four All-Academic selections apiece.
