PORTLAND, Ore. – A total of 28 Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball players were selected to the 2023 Collegiate Sports Communicators academic all-district teams announced by the organization on Tuesday.

A total of nine GNAC schools were represented, including five schools that had a total of four selections each. Additionally, five players from the GNAC were selected for the second straight season including Seattle Pacific’s Hannah Hair and Allison Wilks, Montana State Billings’ Kennedy Juranek, Alaska’s Rilee White and Northwest Nazarene’s Caroline McMahon.

Among the conference’s 28 academic all-district picks, nine were selected to be considered for CSC Academic All-America including all four of Central Washington’s honorees in Tia Andaya, Emma Daoud-Hebert, Scottie Ellsworth and Hannah Stires.

Also advancing to All-America consideration were MSUB’s Christine Funk and Paiten Langston, SPU’s Hair and Sarah Brachvogel and Western Oregon’s Madison Hornback.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
