LEXINGTON, Ky. – Four volleyball programs from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference received the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 calendar year.

Alaska, Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene, and Seattle Pacific were each recognized for their academic excellence throughout the most recent year. A total of 1,343 collegiate and high school teams received the honor, which is presented to programs that maintain a year-long grade point average of at least 3.3.

Central Washington was designated as a Team Academic Honor Roll member, which is reserved for the top-20 percent of GPAs in the division. It was CWU’s fourth straight year with honor roll distinction, and it was its eighth straight team academic award. SPU made it 12 consecutive years and 15 times in the history of its program that it has been honored with the team academic award. NNU claimed the honor for the eighth straight year as well, while Alaska was mentioned on the list for the fifth season in-a-row.

Over the conference’s history, 60 programs have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award. In addition to Seattle Pacific’s 15 total awards, CWU has received the honor 11 times.

In total for 2022-23, 155 NCAA Division II programs were recognized by the AVCA.
