GNAC Insider: SPU’s Vanessa Aniteye

PORTLAND, Ore. – The latest episode of GNAC Insider, the weekly podcast of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, features Seattle Pacific cross country and track and field alumna Vanessa Aniteye, who was recently a recipient NCAA Woman of the Year top-30 finalist honors.

Aniteye joined host Gabbie Ewing from the GNAC office to discuss the recent NCAA Woman of the Year award ceremony, which took place at the NCAA Convention in Phoenix, Ariz., from Jan. 10-13.

The 2023 NCAA national champion in the 800 meters during the indoor season, Aniteye broke the school record on her way to being named the USTFCCCA West Region Athlete of the Year and the GNAC Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Aniteye graduated with a degree in exercise science while maintaining a 3.61 GPA. Aniteye assisted with teaching classes and with physical therapy for the Bayview Retirement Community.
