PORTLAND, Ore. – A total of 35 GNAC athletes were named to the 2017 GNAC All-Academic Baseball team led by Montana State Billings’ sophomore Jared Winslow with a GNAC-best 3.91 GPA in health/human performance.

Winslow is joined by his teammate Casey Merritt, who was one of two players to be named to the team for a third consecutive year and is among nine Yellowjackets to receive the honor this season.

The Cavaliers’ leader in batting average, Cole Crosby, is also among the league leaders in GPA with a 3.85, studying chemistry. Psychology major Tyler Charlton leads Concordia in GPA at 3.90.

Andrew Helmstadter from Northwest Nazarene was the other player to earn a third consecutive selection after recording a 3.46 GPA in accounting.

Reigning GNAC Pitcher of the Year Brady Miller is leading Western Oregon, not only on the mound, but also in the classroom. The business major led a group of six selections from WOU with a 3.78 GPA. He is one of three repeat selections from the Wolves’ roster, the most of any team.

Austin Feist from Saint Martin’s leads his team as a sophomore in GPA with a 3.62 in business administration. Adam Eskil received his second selection to the GNAC All-Academic Team with a 3.36 GPA in mechanical engineering.

Central Washington is represented on the team by Mackenzie Gaul, who recorded a 3.58 GPA in business administration.

To be eligible for selection, athletes must be of sophomore standing or greater, be in their second season at the nominating school and have a 3.20 GPA or better. Two athletes were selected for a third time in their careers while seven athletes received their second honor and 26 were first-time honorees.
