LEXINGTON, Ky. – After playing a key role in taking down nationally-ranked Western Washington in five sets and securing a road sweep in the penultimate week of the regular season, Alaska Anchorage sophomore setter Ellen Floyd has been named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Player of the Week.

Floyd finished with 91 assists, 29 digs, nine blocks and seven kills as the Seawolves finished their regular-season road schedule with a five-set win at Western Washington on Thursday and a four-set win at Simon Fraser on Saturday.

Against the Vikings, Floyd finished with a double-double of 43 assists and 14 digs to go with four blocks, two kills and a service ace. She shared the team lead in a match that saw the Seawolves finish with 12.5 team blocks. At Simon Fraser, Floyd again notched a double-double with 48 assists and 15 digs to go with five blocks and five kills.

Floyd enters the week ranked second in the GNAC with 10.16 assists per set. She is also averaging 0.58 kills and 0.73 blocks per set.

Floyd is the second GNAC player to be named the Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week this season. Alaska junior setter Cate Whiting was selected for the award on Oct. 1.

Alaska Anchorage currently sits in second place in the GNAC at 15-3, one game behind Western Washington, and is 20-6 overall. The Seawolves will close the regular season at home this weekend, hosting Saint Martin’s on Thursday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
