PORTLAND, Ore. – Stellar classwork in a difficult major for Saint Martin’s sophomore Jared Rasmussen leads the selections for the 2015-16 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golf All-Academic Team.

Rasmussen tops the 13 selections to the team with his 3.99 cumulative grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. He leads five all-academic selections for Saint Martin’s, which finished fifth at this week’s GNAC Men’s Golf Championships. Rasmussen tied for 22nd place individually.

Rasmussen and Montana State Billings’ Connor Miele were the two selections to the team with grade point averages of 3.90 or better. Miele boasts a 3.95 grade point average as a management major and tied for 14th at the GNAC Championships.

A total of six players finished with grade point averages of 3.70 or better, including Concordia’s Kolton Kyne, who finished tied for third at the GNAC Championships, Northwest Nazarene’s Ian Briske and Saint Martin’s Jack Davis and Ryan Pickthorn. Pickthorn finished tied for 17th at the GNAC Championships while Briske tied for 26th.

The GNAC Men’s Golf All-Academic Team includes three repeat selections: Briske, Davis and Western Washington’s Anthony Allen. Of the 13 selections, eight represented their squads at the GNAC Championships, including four of the five Saint Martin’s golfers.

To be selected to the GNAC Men’s Golf All-Academic Team, a player must be of sophomore standing, be in their second season of competition with their team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
