ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The longest-tenured of the GNAC’s baseball coaches, Central Washington head coach Desi Storey has been appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee.

Storey will begin his term on September 1.

“This appointment to the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee is a great opportunity for me to represent not only Central Washington University but also the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and our sport at the regional level,” Storey said. “I’m excited to be part of this committee and look forward to helping in any way possible.”

The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee is in charge of conducting the sport’s championship and develops policies and procedures to administer the championship in an efficient and orderly manner. Sport committees report directly to the NCAA’s Championships Committee, which helps direct and approve recommendations or policies and procedures from the sport committees.

As part of his duties, Storey will chair the baseball regional advisory committee for the West Region. The group is charged with selecting the West Region’s qualifiers for the NCAA Championships.

An alumnus of Central Washington, Storey recently finished his 29th season as the Wildcats’ head coach. He has an overall record of 632-713 and ranks in the top-40 among active Division II coaches in victories. Storey is the winningest coach in conference history in terms of total victories with 429 wins and 248 GNAC victories in the league’s 19 years.
