PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference received notice from Western Oregon University that it has canceled the remainder of its women’s basketball season.

Per GNAC policy, WOU will forfeit the remaining games on its schedule. WOU’s opponents will be assigned forfeit wins and WOU will be assigned forfeit losses in the conference standings.

“We are certainly disappointed Western Oregon will be unable to meet its conference obligation of playing its remaining games as scheduled,” said GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. “This was a difficult decision for WOU and we support the university’s commitment to resolving issues impacting the program.”

WOU announced in a release on its website Tuesday that it would forfeit its scheduled games this week against Western Washington (Feb. 15) and Simon Fraser (Feb. 17). Additionally, WOU will forfeit its remaining games against Alaska Fairbanks (Feb. 22), Alaska Anchorage (Feb. 24), at Northwest Nazarene (Feb. 29) and at Central Washington (March 2).
