PORTLAND, Ore. – For the third time this season, a GNAC player has been named the Division II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week as Seattle Pacific senior guard/forward Ashley Alter was selected for the honor on Wednesday by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association.

Alter was selected for a week that saw her average 24 points and 11.5 rebounds per game to lead the Falcons to a 58-45 win over Northwest Nazarene on Thursday and a 70-63 victory over Central Washington on Saturday. In the two contests, Alter shot 48.6% from the field and 50% from three-point range.

Against the Nighthawks, Alter put together a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds in 37 minutes of action. She connected on 7 of 16 from the field and 2 of 4 from three-point range.

Against the Wildcats, Alter put together the eighth 30-plus point performance in the GNAC this season, connecting for 31 points on 10 of 19 from the field, 6 of 12 from long range and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. She also had nine rebounds in the game as the Falcons handed CWU only its second loss of the year.

On the season, Alter ranks seventh in the GNAC in scoring at 16.4 points per game and is 11th with 6.5 rebounds per game. Alter also ranks fifth in the conference with two steals per game.

Alter joins Central Washington’s Valerie Huerta in having won the Division II honor this season. Huerta earned the award on Nov. 22 and on Dec. 21, providing the conference with back-to-back awards.

Seattle Pacific enters the week with an 8-4 overall record and in a three-way tie for second in the conference at 3-1. Alter and the Falcons travel to face Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin’s on Saturday.
