Reynolds, Nelke Lead Women's Hoop All-Academic Selections
Seattle Pacific's Jordan McPhee is a three-time All-Academic Team selection and carries a 3.98 GPA as a business administration major.
Tuesday, February 13, 2018 PORTLAND, Ore. – Two upperclassmen who carry 4.0 grade point averages and are key players on their respective teams lead a total of 61 selections to the 2017-18 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team.
Saint Martin’s senior guard Hannah Reynolds and Western Oregon junior forward Ali Nelke lead the squad with those 4.0 GPAs. Reynolds, who is in SMU’s Master’s of Business Administration program, has started half of the Saint’s 24 games this season. She is averaging 4.4 points and two rebounds per game and is shooting an impressive 96.8 percent from the free throw line (30-31).
Nelke, a business major, has started five of 16 games she has played in for Western Oregon this season. She is averaging 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while averaging 17 minutes per game.
The pair is among 26 repeat selections to the Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team. Reynolds is among nine three-time selections to the team. Seattle Pacific’s Jordan McPhee tops the list of three-time honorees as she carries a 3.98 GPA as a business administration major. The three are joined by Central Washington’s Jasmin Edwards and Rachel Lorentson, Montana State Billings’ Alisha Breen and Lexi Prevost, Seattle Pacific’s Courtney Hollander, Lindsay Lee and Erica Pagano; and Western Oregon’s Sydney Azorr and Jasmine Miller.
Reynolds and Nelke are also among six players with a 3.9 GPA or better. They are joined by Alaska’s Kylie Wallace, Montana State Billings’ Jeanann Lemelin, Seattle Pacific’s McPhee and Western Oregon’s Natalie DeLonge.
Montana State Billings led all GNAC teams with 10 selections to the All-Academic Team, accounting over 75 percent of the team’s roster. Central Washington finished with nine selections and Western Oregon had eight selections.
To be eligible for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher, be in their second season competing at their current insitutions and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better.
