WOU's Drury Headlines Softball All-Academic Team
Wednesday, April 15, 2020 PORTLAND, Ore. – Western Oregon junior utility player Allyson Drury made the most of the conference’s shortened season, contributing to the Wolves as a starter while leading the 2020 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball All-Academic Team.
Drury leads the team’s 70 honorees with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. She played in 17 of the Wolves’ 23 games this season, which included 14 starts as an outfielder or the designated player. Drury finished the season with a .292 batting average, 14 hits, nine runs and 11 RBI.
Drury tops a list of 11 players to make the team with a 3.80 GPA or better. Joining her is Central Washington juniors Alycia Bannan and Theresa Moyle; Concordia seniors Hannah Self and Karley Yoshioka and junior Allie Hancock; Montana State Billings junior Britanee Fisher and sophomore Morgan Quimby; Saint Martin’s seniors Brandi Schoessler and Emily Thornton; and Western Washington junior Mackenzie Palmer.
The 2020 All-Academic Team includes 38 repeat selections, accounting for over half of the squad. The team includes six three-time selections in Central Washington senior Paige Liikala, Montana State Billings senior Maddy Lincoln, Northwest Nazarene senior Rae Young, Saint Martin’s senior Jessica O’Toole, Simon Fraser senior Amanda Janes and Western Washington senior Kylisa Hull.
Central Washington led all programs with 13 All-Academic selections, accounting for 59 percent of the entire Wildcats’ roster. Montana State Billings finished with 12 selections while Concordia and Western Washington each had 10.
The GNAC All-Academic Teams honor excellence in the classroom while committing to the rigor of being part of a collegiate athletic program. Nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second season at the nominating institution.
