4.00 Quintet Leads All-Academic Men’s Soccer Team
Wednesday, October 18, 2023 by Thomas Lal PORTLAND, Ore. – Five 4.00 performers lead 56 total selections to the 2023 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes & Noble College.
Leading the five members of the 4.00 club are Seattle Pacific senior midfielder Tyler Speer and Northwest Nazarene senior goalkeeper Sawyer Price with their fourth selections to the all-academic team. Along with Speer and Price, Montana State Billings junior Jack Jarrett and Saint Martin’s sophomores Daniel Shooshan and Paarth Singh all earned GNAC all-academic honors with 4.00 grade point averages.
The 2023 GNAC Men’s Soccer All-Academic team features 27 total repeat selections including 13 third-year and seven second-year honorees. Speer and Price are among five fourth-year selections along with Western Washington seniors Brandon Locke and Theo Steinmetz and Price’s senior teammate Cameron Natvig. A field of 29 newcomers completes the all-academic team. Saint Martin’s ans Western Washington lead all programs with 11 selections apiece followed by Montana State Billings with 10 honorees.
To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, must be in their second season competing for their team and must have competed on the field during the 2023 season.
