PORTLAND, Ore. – Honoring excellence in academic and athletic achievement, a total of 36 GNAC student-athletes have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Division II Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.

A total of 18 men and 18 women were named to the district squads, which honor student-athletes with high academic achievement across all of collegiate athletics. Nominees must be a sophomore standing or greater, be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s matches.

In a change to the program for 2022-23, all nominees who met the selection criteria and were nominated by their institution were named to the Academic All-District Teams. Institutions could nominate a maximum of six players for each program.

Seattle Pacific led the conference with 10 total Academic All-District selections, including six in women’s soccer. Montana State Billings and Western Washington each had nine honorees and Northwest Nazarene had eight.

The CSC Academic All-District Team includes four players that received First Team All-GNAC selection. The men’s list includes Montana State Billings junior forward Jeremie Briquet and Northwest Nazarene senior defender Lorenzo Valentini. The women’s list includes Northwest Nazarene junior forward Madison Grande and Western Washington senior midfielder Tera Ziemer.

Nominated by members of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the Academic All-America has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions since its inception in 1952.

The conference’s honorees are now eligible for selection as CSC Academic All-Americans. The Women’s Soccer Academic All-America Team will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6, with the men’s team announced on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
