BILLINGS, Mont. – Collecting just five yellow cards and no red cards in 17 games, the Montana State University Billings women's soccer team earned the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2015 season.

MSUB was one of just 43 colleges at all levels and divisions in the nation to receive the Silver Award, and was the only school in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference to be recognized at any level of the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.

"I am really proud of the team for receiving this award," said MSUB head coach Wojtek Krakowiak. "Tons of credit goes to the team for being competitive on the field and knowing how to win the right way. In our program, it is very important to show great sportsmanship to opponents, referees, and our community. This is a great tradition and we are very honored to receive this award."

MSUB has received the award six times since the 2008 season, and 2015 marked the second straight year the Yellowjackets were honored.

The award is presented to teams throughout the country that display excellent sportsmanship and accumulate the fewest cards during the season. Four different levels of the award are based on percentage of cards received per game played, with teams receiving no cards earning the Platinum Award.

Teams scoring between 1-10 percent received the Gold Award, teams between 11-30 percent received the Silver Award, and teams between 31-50 percent earned the Bronze Award. The Yellowjackets received the Silver Award with a percentage of 29.4 (5 cards in 17 games).

MSUB finished the season with a record of 8-7-2 overall and went 6-5-1 in the GNAC to earn its second straight conference tournament berth.
