Seattle Pacific Edges WWU 1-0
Heather Young easily tapped in the ball at the left post in the 62nd minute Wednesday, lifting Seattle Pacific to a 1-0 GNAC women's soccer victory over Western Washington Wednesday at Orca Field in Bellingham.

Freshman Ali Martin set up the lone goal, racing down the right side behind the defense to track down a ball at the end line.

Her low, hard cross got pass WWU goalkeeper Jamie Arthurs at the near post. Young was waiting at the far post to push the ball in from two yards out at 61:46. That was her team-leading third goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Natalie Harold made five saves for the Falcons (4-1), who were outshot 17-15.

The Vikings, who had a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, had their best scoring chance in the 54th minute when Megan Chapin hit the base of the right post from 15 yards out.

Arthurs stopped two shots for WWU (1-2-2). The game was the conference opener for both squads.
