MSUB, NNU Lead United Coaches Team Academic Selections

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With a commitment to success on the pitch and in the classroom, seven soccer programs from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference received the 2019-20 Team Academic Award from United Soccer Coaches.

A total of 889 college teams earned the Team Academic Award, including 172 schools that saw both their men’s and women’s programs awarded. Montana State Billings and Northwest Nazarene were two of the schools with both their men’s and women’s teams on the list.

The Nighthawk women finished with a conference-high 3.66 cumulative grade-point average while the men posted a 3.29 GPA to earn the award for the third straight year. The Yellowjacket women finished with a 3.65 GPA to earn the honor for the 18th time in 19 years while the men received the award for the 10th time, finishing with a 3.22 GPA.

Also earning the Team Academic Award for the 11th consecutive year on the women’s side is Central Washington with a 3.48 GPA. The Seattle Pacific and Western Washington men also received recognition as the Falcons posted a 3.17 GPA while the Vikings finished with a conference-best 3.46 GPA.

To be chosen for the award, programs must be members of United Soccer Coaches with a team GPA of 3.0 or better. All GNAC programs selected also earned the award in 2018-19.
