PORTLAND, Ore. – The honors keep rolling in for the Division II women’s soccer national champions as Western Washington senior midfielder Tera Ziemer and junior goalkeeper Claire Henninger have been selected as United Soccer Coaches Division II Scholar All-Americans.

Ziemer, who was named the organization’s Division II Player of the Year earlier this week, was selected as a First Team Scholar All-American. Henninger was named to the third team.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must be a junior or above in athletic standing at their current institution, must be in their second year at the current institution if a transfer student, have a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), have played a minimum of 75 percent of matches during the season of nomination and be an elite player supported by honors such as all-conference, all-region or All-American. Head coaches of the nominating teams must be United Soccer Coaches members.

In addition to being named the United Soccer Coaches Division II Player of the Year, Ziemer was named a First Team All-American by the organization and was a consensus First Team All-West Region selection. Ziemer started in all 25 matches for the Vikings, recording six goals and four assists. Ziemer was a key component of a Vikings’ defense that ranked seventh in Division II with a 0.52 goals against average and was tied for second with 15 shutouts.

Henninger was another key part of that stout WWU defense. A Second Team All-GNAC selection and A Division II Championships All-Tournament Team selection, Henninger led the GNAC and finished 12th in Division II with a 0.54 goals against average. She was fourth in Division II in goalkeeper minutes with 1,992 minutes played. Appearing in all but two WWU matches, Henninger allowed just 12 goals, made 52 saves and had 11 shutouts.
