DALLAS, Tex. – Northwest Nazarene’s Elle McCord tied for 36th at the 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf West Regional in Dallas, Texas to lead all GNAC golfers at the tournament for one last time this season.

While the tournament was originally scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, the final round was also held today due to inclement weather. McCord finished the West Regional with a three-round score of 228. She shot a low round of 4-over-par 74 in the final round. McCord’s low round included a pair of back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight.

McCord’s final score ranks her fifth among the six individual golfers selected to compete in the NCAA West Regional. She finished one stroke ahead of fellow individual competitor Maria Sierra Sanz of Angelo State and was seven strokes behind the next highest individual golfer, Morgan Sjoerdsma of Cal State LA.

Simon Fraser finished in 12th place with a three-round score of 936 as the lone GNAC team representative at the NCAA West Regional. The Red Leafs were led by freshman Izzy Ferguson and junior Shirin Anjarwalla. Both Ferguson and Anjarwalla finished as part of a four-way tie for 45th with three-round scores of 230.

Ferguson closed out the tournament with the lowest round of any GNAC golfer in the tournament with a score of 1-over-par 71. After an up-and-down first five holes, she shot 3-under-par 32 for the front-nine with a trio of birdies to stabilize.

Rounding out the scoring effort for Simon Fraser was freshman Meera Minhas in a tie for 60th and junior Natasha Kozlowski in 64th.
