PORTLAND, Ore. – After winning the GNAC Women’s Golf Championships in Coeur d’Alene last week, Simon Fraser is headed to the Lone Star State to compete in the NCAA West Regional at the Golf Club of Dallas from May 8-10.

The Red Leafs head into the West Regional on the back of their first GNAC team championship since 2019. Simon Fraser was dominant on the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, winning the tournament with a two-round score of 609, nine strokes ahead of second-place Saint Martin’s.

Along with the Red Leafs, Northwest Nazarene freshman Elle McCord will also be heading to Texas as one of six individual golfers selected to play in the regional. McCord enters her first West Regional tournament on the back of a season where she has led the Nighthawks and the conference with a 76.4 stroke average on the season.

At the GNAC Championships, McCord tied for eighth place with a two-round score of 157 to lead Northwest Nazarene to a third-place team finish. On the season, she has seven top-10 finishes, including four top-five results, and owns a low round of 71.

Simon Fraser took home top honors from the GNAC Championships by placing all four scoring golfers in the top six. Leading the way for the Red Leafs in third place was freshman Meera Minhas with a two-round score of 9-over-par 151. Minhas also leads SFU on the season with a 76.6 stroke average. She has notched three top-10 finishes in her debut campaign.

Fellow freshman Izzy Ferguson and junior Natasha Kozlowski finished the GNAC Championships in a tie for third with scores of 152. Ferguson has been another debut standout in the conference, ranking fourth for Simon Fraser and fifth in the GNAC with a 77.2 stroke average. Kozlowski averages 77.8 strokes per round.

Junior Shirin Anjarwalla placed sixth at the GNAC Championships with a score of 154. On the season, Anjarwalla ranks fifth for the Red Leafs and sixth in the conference with a 77.2 stroke average through eight tournaments.

As a team, Simon Fraser enters the West Regional with a GNAC-leading 306.9 stroke average through 17 rounds. The Red Leafs go into the tournament as the No. 12 seed while McCord goes in as the No. 6 seeded individual golfer.

The NCAA West Regional will take place at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas from May 8-10. The top four teams and top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri from May 16-20.
