BILLINGS, Mont. - After three seasons in charge of both Yellowjacket golf programs, Montana State Billings head golf coach Jeff Allen has announced that the 2021 spring season will be his last.

Allen said he is stepping away from his current role to move to Kansas with his wife and MSUB hall of famer Kalli (Stanhope) Allen and daughters Olivia and Hadley.

“I want to thank MSUB for a great three years as head coach of the golf programs,” Allen said. “I would like to specifically thank Kevin Woodin for hiring me on as his assistant coach for the golf teams in 2016 and then helping me transition into the head coaching role in 2019 along with Krista Montague for her trust in me and for her great leadership in this athletic department. It is difficult to leave but our move is ultimately the best thing for our family. Thank you to all of the student-athletes that I was fortunate enough to coach over the years. The golf teams were able to accomplish a lot of great things during my tenure and the future is very bright for both programs. My wife Kalli and I are both very grateful for everything that MSUB has given us and we look forward to supporting the Jackets for years to come.”

Upon the resignation of head of Allen, the Montana State University Billings athletic department announced the establishment of the Jeff and Kalli Allen Golf Program Endowment.

The Jeff and Kalli Allen Golf Program Endowment is structured to benefit the golf program and all current and future golf student-athletes. Once endowed, the fund will support MSUB golf in perpetuity and honor Jeff and Kalli’s dedication to the sport.

“On behalf of Yellowjacket Athletics, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and thank you to Jeff Allen for all of his work and contributions to MSU Billings,” said MSUB director of athletics Krista Montague. “While we are certainly disappointed to see Jeff and his family leave Billings, we are very excited for them and their future endeavors. I will always fondly remember Coach Allen for his kind and steady commitment to our golf student-athletes on the course, in the classroom, and in their personal growth. We wish Jeff, Kalli, Oliva, and Hadley all the best as they move on to their new adventure.”

Allen’s announcement comes on the heels of the Yellowjacket men’s golf team qualifying for its first-ever NCAA Division II Regional Championship, as the field of competitors was revealed earlier Friday afternoon. Allen will continue to lead the Yellowjacket men through the remainder of the season, as they enter unchartered territory at the regional playoffs on May 6-8 in DuPont, Washington.
