PORTLAND, Ore. – Postseason awards have become a tradition in the Leung family as Estee Leung is among the leaders on the 2019-20 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Golf All-Academic Team.

The Simon Fraser junior leads the team’s 15 honorees with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average as a biomedical physiology major. Leung earned First Team All-GNAC selection after she finished with a 78.4 stroke average over eight rounds. She finished in the top-10 on two occasions and in the top-five once, finishing in third place at the Clan’s True North Classic in September with a two-round score of 4-over-par 148.

Leung is one of six honorees with a 3.80 GPA or better. Those selections include Concordia junior Kendall Freeman; Montana State Billings sophomore Tierney Messmer; Northwest Nazarene sophomore Taylor Entenman and junior Hannah Holloway; and Saint Martin’s sophomore Katherine Swor. Messmer tops the squad with a perfect 4.00 GPA as a health administration major.

The 2019-20 All-Academic Team has seven repeat selections, including a pair of three-time selections in Northwest Nazarene senior Natalie Chehimi and Concordia senior Cammie Decker, the GNAC Co-Player of the Year.

Montana State Billings and Northwest Nazarene led the conference with four selections each while Concordia, Saint Martin’s and Western Washington all had two.

The GNAC All-Academic Teams honor excellence in the classroom while committing to the rigor of being part of a collegiate athletic program. Nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second season at the nominating institution.
