CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Picking up right where she left off after a redshirt season, Simon Fraser senior Emily Leung has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s Division II All-West Region Team.

Leung was the only GNAC golfer named to the squad and one of just five from the three West Coast conferences to be named to the 10-player squad. The West Region in NCAA Division II women’s golf is comprised of teams from GNAC, CCAA, PacWest Conference, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Lone Star Conference.

Additionally, Leung is just the third women’s golfer in GNAC history earn all-region accolades, joining Western Washington’s Sophie Elstrott (2011) and the Vikings’ Jenn Paul (2016).

The 2017 GNAC Player of the Year and a three-time First Team All-GNAC selection, Leung redshirted for the 2018-19 season. She returned to finished tied with Concordia senior Cammie Decker with a 73.9 stroke average over 12 rounds. She posted a top-10 finish in five of the Clan’s six tournaments.

Leung finished the fall season with a win at October’s Division II West Region Preview in Carlsbad, California, carding a two-round score of 2-under-par 142. The tournament included a season-low round of 3-under-par 69, tying for the second-lowest individual round in conference history.

Leung earned runner-up honors at September’s Dixie State Fall Invitational with another 2-under-par 142 and tied for fourth in two other tournaments, September’s True North Classic and February’s Battle at Hilton Head Island.
