ALAMEDA, Calif. – Week in and week out, people can expect Simon Fraser to finish near the top of the team leaderboard at any given tournament.

The Clan finished in second place at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at the Corica Park South Course on Monday and Tuesday in Alameda, California thanks to top-25 finishes for all four scoring players. The Clan finished with a score of 609 over two rounds as all four of those scoring players shot an even-par or better in the second round. Cal State San Marcos, the tournament winner, topped the field by placing three players in the top-five to finish at 597.

Senior Jaya Rampuri led the way, finishing tied for fifth place with a score of 5-over-par 149, which included a low-round score of 1-under-par 71 in the second round.

Senior Emily Leung and freshman Claire Lovan turned in the same numbers at the tournament, finishing tied for 14th place with scores of 8-over-par 152. Leung and Lovan both shot 80 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the second round. Freshman Frida Ehnebom wasn’t far behind, finishing tied for 24th place at 157.

Concordia senior Cammie Decker continues to pace the Cavaliers in 2019-20. She also finished tied for fifth place at 5-over-par 149. Both the Clan and the Cavs will head to the Mikuni Sushi Shootout in Lincoln, California on March 16-17.

AROUND THE GNAC
CONCORDIA
• Concordia followed senior Cammie Decker once again to a fifth-place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a final team score of 623 over two rounds.

• Decker paced the Cavaliers in the fall and is poised to do the same in the spring. She finished in a four-way tie for fifth place with Cal State San Marcos’ Breann Horn, Simon Fraser’s Jaya Rampuri and Cal State LA’s Morgan Sjoerdsma with a score of 5-over-par 149. She shot a low of 1-over-par 73 in the first round.

• Freshman Jae Eun Park has consistently been the Cavs’ No. 2 player in 2019-20. She finished tied for 14th place with a score of 8-over-par 152. Her low-round score of even-par 72 in the first round was the Cavs’ top individual round of the tournament. Junior Staesha Flock also earned a top-25 finish as she finished tied for 24th place at 157.

• Up next, the Cavs will compete at the Mikuni Sushi Shootout on March 16-17 in Lincoln, California.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
• Montana State Billings finished in 18th place at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a score of 709.

• Fittingly enough, the Yellowjackets’ top performer was sophomore Tierney Messmer, who finished tied for 51st place with a score of 164.

• The Yellowjackets will head to Pueblo, Colorado to compete at the El Cheapo Classic on March 22-23.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
• Northwest Nazarene finished in 16th place at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a score of 673.

• Junior Hannah Holloway was the Nighthawks’ top performer, finishing tied for 43rd place with a score of 162. Fellow junior Trinity McCarthy finished one stroke behind Holloway at 163 to finish tied for 46th.

• Up next, the Nighthawks will stay in Nampa to compete in a duo match against College of Idaho on March 14.

SAINT MARTIN’S
• Saint Martin’s did not compete last week. The Saints will return to the links when they compete at the Puget Sound Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in DuPont, Washington.

SIMON FRASER
• Simon Fraser placed all four scoring players in the top-25 to finish in second place at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a score of 609 over two rounds. All four of those players shot an even-par or better in the second round. Cal State San Marcos took first-place honors with a score of 597 after three players finished in the top-five.

• Senior Jaya Rampuri paced the Clan as she finished tied for fifth place with Concordia’s Cammie Decker, Cal State San Marcos’ Breann Horn and Cal State LA’s Morgan Sjoerdsma with a score of 5-over-par 149. Her score of 1-under-par 71 in the second round was the Clan’s top individual round.

WESTERN WASHINGTON
• Western Washington tied for sixth place with Sonoma State with a score of 629 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. As a team, the Vikings improved by 23 strokes between the first and second rounds.

• Junior Megan Billeter just missed the top-10, finishing tied for 11th place with Biola’s Jules Loibl and Dominican’s Ashley Pan with a score of 7-over-par 151.

• Senior Brianna Esvelt also performed well, finishing tied for 21st place with a score of 156 while freshman Elise Sumner placed 33rd at 159.

• The Vikings will take to the road to compete at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational in Vista, California on Monday and Tuesday.
