PORTLAND, Ore. – A team victory by Simon Fraser and a standout performance by Concordia’s Shantel Antonio highlighted the start of the 2017-18 GNAC Women’s Golf Season.

At the Northwest Shootout on Sept. 21, Simon Fraser edged the Cavaliers by two strokes to take home the one-day tournament trophy. Antonio shined for Concordia, earning individual medalist honors shooting a 1-under par 71, taking home the GNAC Women’s Golf Player of the Week award in the process.

Simon Fraser, Western Washington, Concordia and Montana State Billings all gained valuable experience playing against Division I opposition this week, as the Clan, Vikings, and Cavs participated in the Rose City Collegiate while MSUB played at the Western New Mexico Invitational.

Emily Leung’s final score of 218 and 5th place finish at the three-round collegiate paced the Clan to a sixth-place finish overall. The Yellowjackets placed 10th out of the 17-team field at the invitational, thanks in part to Bailee Dexter’s near school-record-setting 1-under par 71 performance in her final round of the tournament.

  • Concordia’s Shantel Antonio earned individual medalist honors by claiming the Northwest Shootout with a one round score of 1-under par 71.  In their first invitational of the fall, the Cavaliers placed second, just two strokes behind Simon Fraser's team-best 308.
  • Playing in her first collegiate tournament, Kendall Freeman shot a 6-over par 77 to finish 16th. Caitlyn Villatora and Staesha Flock each shot an 81 to tie for 14th place. Finishing one stroke behind them and tied for 21st was GNAC co-Freshman of the Year, Cammie Decker
  • For her individual victory at the Northwest Shootout, Antonio was named the GNAC Women's Golf Player of the Week. 
  • Decker finished with a three-round score of 228 (73-78-77) to lead the Cavaliers at the Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State. Decker finished in a tie for 39th place, just two strokes out of 35th place and three out of 26th place.


  • On Tuesday, Bailee Dexter came within one stroke of the Montana State Billings women's golf school record with a 1-under par 71 in the final round of the Western New Mexico Invitational.
  • Four birdies fueled Dexter’s best career round. Her effort for the Yellowjackets finished her with a two-round total of 638 (322-316) and wound up in 10th place among the field of 17 teams.
  • Finishing behind Dexter was Shealyn Hafer, who was also in the top-20 with a two-round score of 155 (77-78).


  • Hannah Holloway led Northwest Nazarene with an 8-over par 80 at the Northwest Shootout last Thursday.
  • Holloway finished tied for ninth overall while Stephanie Miller shot an 83 (tied 22nd). Both sophomore Natalie Beggrow and freshman Ragan McGilvery each carded an 85, tying them for 28th.  The Crusaders’ team score of 333 resulted in a fifth place finish.
  • Rounding out the scoring for NNU were Dani Finley with a 91 while Jadyn Sutton and Trinity McCarthy each shot 94.


  • Celia Beyke's top-10 finish along with Hannah Reynolds' 81 paced the Saints to a fourth-place finish at the Northwest Shootout on Sept. 21.
  • Beyke led all Saints' golfers with an 80, placing her tied for 10th overall. Reynolds, playing in her first collegiate golf event, carded an 81 and tied for 14th overall.
  • Lisa Zelasko and Hailey Warren each finished with a score of 83 and tied for 23rd overall.


  • Simon Fraser won team medalist honors with a two-stroke victory over Concordia’s 308, placing first in the Northwest Shootout last week.
  • Simon Fraser placed three top-10 finishers. Laura Jones ended in second, recording a 3-over par 75 in the one-day tournament. Jaya Rampuri was tied for third after shooting a 76 while Michelle Waters was seventh after carding a 78.
  • The Clan completed its third tournament of the season in sixth place at the Rose City Collegiate on Tuesday. The team finished the day with 306 strokes in the third round for a total of 897 strokes (297-294-306).
  • Emily Leung paced the Clan, finishing tied for fifth place with a total of 218 strokes (72-72-74). Leung was two-over par for the tournament after making 41 pars. Leung was one of five players who tied for fifth.


  • Western Washington continued its early-season tournament schedule placing 3rd at the Northwest Shootout last Thursday with a score of 323 in the one-round tournament.
  • Hannah Drake tied for 8th out of 39 players, recording a 7-over par 79 in 18 holes.
  • Later in the week, Western Washington finished in 13th at the Rose City Collegiate played Monday and Tuesday at Langdon Farms Golf Club.
  • Jenn Paul and Annie Leete led the way for the Vikings, tying for 54th place. Leete, a junior transfer from Easter Washington, recorded three sub-80 rounds to finish at 20-over par 236. Paul carded her best score of the tournament in the second round with a 5-over par 77.
