PORTLAND, Ore. – The Coeur D’Alene Resort, one of the Pacific Northwest’s premiere golf destinations and home to the world famous “floating green,” has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The agreement makes the resort the presenting sponsor and host of the GNAC Men’s & Women’s Golf Championships through the 2018 season and marks the continuation of a long relationship between the two entities. The 2016 conference golf championships will mark the eighth consecutive year that the tournament has been hosted at the north Idaho property.

“The Coeur D’Alene Resort has been an absolutely fabulous long-time conference partner and is an annual highlight for our participating student-athletes,” said GNAC Commissioner Dave Haglund. “We’re excited to be able to continue this great partnership and want to to thank everyone at the resort for all they do to create a memorable championship experience for our GNAC golfers.”

Located on the north shore of Lake Coeur D’Alene, 35 miles east of Spokane, Wash., the golf course has drawn widespread recognition in the golfing community, including the designation as “America’s Most Beautiful Resort Golf Course” by Golf Digest magazine.

The 6,803-yard, par 71 layout features the famous 14th hole “floating green,” a man-made island that rests in Lake Coeur D’Alene. The most unique feature of the green is its ability to be computer controlled to a different distance from the tee each day.

The 2016 GNAC Men’s & Women’s Golf Championships will take place on Mon., Apr. 18 and Tues., Apr. 19.
