PORTLAND, Ore. – Three women's golf teams returned to action over the past two weeks, with Northwest Nazarene competing in the College of Idaho Invitational and Western Washington and Montana State Billings heading south for the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate.

The Vikings highlighted the group, placing third at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona with a two-round total of 596. Junior Lacy Sheldon led the way for WWU in its first tournament of the 2018-19 campaign, finishing with rounds of 71 and 72 to record a top-three finish individually. In total, 97 individual competitors made the trip to Goodyear. 

Up in Caldwell, Idaho, the Nighthawks recorded a third-place finish of their own. Senior Stephanie Miller was NNU's highest placer, coming in fifth-place with a total of 152.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
• Playing in their second tournament of the season, the Yellowjackets finished in 16th place at the WNMU Invitational.

• Sophomore Renae Heisler led the way for MSUB, turning in rounds of 79 and 76 to finish inside the top-45. 

• It's Butte, Mont.-native Shealyn Hafer who leads the team in scoring average through rounds with an average of 79.3. The senior is currently ranked ninth in the GNAC in that category.

• Montana State Billings' busy start to the fall season continues next week as it stays in Billings for the Rocky Mountain College Invite. The tournament is scheduled to run Oct. 1-2 at Peter Yegen Golf Course. 

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
• The Nighthawks continued their season with a short trip over to Caldwell for the College of Idaho Invitational.

Craig Stensgaard's team put together a solid showing and a third-place finish, coming in behind British Columbia and Oregon Tech with a two-day total of 642 (66-over-par).

• Senior Stephanie Miller paced NNU, carding rounds of 77 and 75 for an 8-over-par 152. She was joined by teammates Taylor Entenman and Trinity McCarthy inside the top-15 in Caldwell. 

• Miller sits at No. 6 in scoring average in the GNAC with a team-leading 78.3.

• Northwest Nazarene will return to the course on Oct. 4-6, traveling to Olympia, Wash. for the Saint Martin's Invitational.  

WESTERN WASHINGTON
• Western Washington got its season underway earlier this week in Goodyear, finishing inside the top-three with a two-day total of 596 (20-over-par).

• Junior Lacy Sheldon sparked the Vikings, carding rounds of 71 and 72 for a 1-under-par 143. Both of Sheldon's rounds marked WWU's lowest scores for the week.

• Renton, Wash.-native Nicole Miller was the other Viking to place inside the top-20. She carded a two-day score of 148.

• Up next for WWU is the Dixie State Fall Invitational in Hurricane, Utah. The tournament will run from Oct. 1-2.
