MONMOUTH, Ore. – Three of the top players in the GNAC have been singled out as among the best in the West as Northwest Nazarene’s Avery Albrecht and Alaska Anchorage’ Safiyyah Yasin and Yazmeen Goo have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association’s (D2CCA) Women’s Basketball All-West Region Team.

Abrecht, a senior guard and the GNAC Player of the Year, was named to the first team. Yasin, the GNAC Championships most valuable player, and Goo were second-team selections. All three were named last week to the All-GNAC First Team.

Abrecht enters the NCAA West Regional ranked fourth in the GNAC with 15.2 points per game while ranking 11th with 5.9 rebounds per contest. She ranks ninth in the GNAC with a .488 field goal percentage and .808 free-throw percentage while leading the Nighthawks to a 22-7 overall record and a second-place conference regular-season finish at 17-3. Albrecht led the Nighthawks with 21 points in the team’s 66-63 GNAC Championships semifinal loss to Western Washington.

Both Yasin and Goo led the Seawolves to the GNAC regular-season and tournament titles with a 31-2 overall record and 19-1 conference mark. Yasin was named the GNAC Championships MVP after leading the Seawolves in scoring in both tournament contests, scoring 31 points in a 79-77 win semifinals win over Central Washington and 26 in the 89-68 win in the final over Western Washington. She leads UAA and is fifth in the conference with 15 points per game, is second with a .412 three-point percentage and is tied for third in the GNAC with two assists per contest.

Goo enters the NCAA West Regional averaging 10.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while ranking third in the GNAC with a .568 field goal percentage, fifth with 1.9 steals per game and sixth with 3.9 assists per game. In the GNAC Championships, Goo finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists against Central Washington and then scored 13 points against Western Washington.
