LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Western Washington coach Carmen Dolfo reached 500 wins on Friday as the Vikings beat Southern Indiana at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic 71-50 in Las Vegas.

Dolfo becomes the first women's coach in the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Idaho and Oregon, to reach 500 wins at one four-year university.

Senior guard Katie Colard made four of her six three’s in the second half to lead the Vikings with 20 points. WWU shot 52.6 percent from the field including 57.1 percent from the three-point line to end Southern Indiana’s eight-game win streak.

Western Washington (6-4 overall) started the game on an 18-4 run and led by 17 at the half. Six Vikings had at least eight points by games end.

Dolfo has accumulated a 500-187 career record in 24 years of coaching at Western Washington and her .728 win percentage is second in GNAC history. She has won four GNAC titles and has only finished lower than third in the conference once in14 years.

Seventeen times in her career Dolfo has won at least 20 games while making 21 post-season appearances.

Western Washington is finished with its non-conference schedule and will resume GNAC play the first week of January hosting Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings.
