ANCHORAGE, Alaska – After a successful 15-season career that has included four GNAC championships and 11 NCAA Division II Championships appearances, Chris Green has announced his resignation as Alaska Anchorage head volleyball coach.

Assistant coach Stacy Meisner has been named the interim head coach.

Green posted a 313-116 record over 15 seasons (.731 win percentage), which included 11 NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 13 full seasons. The Seawolves made only two NCAA tournament appearances in the 28 seasons prior to Green’s arrival.

Green is the third-winningest coach in GNAC history with his 313 wins, behind Western Washington’s Diane Flick-Williams (482 wins) and Central Washington’s Mario Andaya (370 wins).

A six-time GNAC Coach of the Year, including the 2022 award, Green was named the AVCA Division II Coach of the Year in 2016 after leading UAA to the Division II championship match. He has also been named the AVCA West Region Coach of the Year three times.

During his tenure, Green has coached nine All-Americans, six GNAC Players of the Year, six GNAC Newcomers of the Year and five GNAC Freshmen of the Year. The list includes senior Eve Stephens, who was named the 2022 GNAC and D2CCA West Region Player of the Year. He coached two of the only four GNAC players to be named First Team All-GNAC four times: Stephens (2018-19, 2021-22) and Julia Mackey (2012-15).

UAA recorded its 15th straight winning season in 2022, finishing with a 27-3 mark and winning its fourth GNAC title under Green with a 17-1 mark in conference play before losing to Chaminade in the first round of the NCAA West Regional. The Seawolves entered the regional ranked No. 5 in the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll.
