BILLINGS, Mont. -- Amy Watanabe, who played and was an student assistant coach at Metro State, will join first-year volleyball head coach Lisa Axel on the bench this fall at Montana State Billings. Axel was an assistant last season at Metro State.

Watanabe was a four-year starter for the Roadrunners serving primarily as a defensive specialist. She finished her career with 1,640 digs and 141 aces before joining Axel on the coaching staff.

Former Central Washington standout Rachael Schurman has been named the head coach at Tacoma Community College.

Schurman played four seasons for the Wildcats (2005-08) and then spent two seasons on the Wildcat coaching staff.

She had 1,033 career kills and 347 blocks and was a three-time AVCA All-American earning first team honors once and honorable mention accolodes twice.
