PORTLAND, Ore. – With representatives from seven of the conference’s 10 teams, a total of 18 GNAC athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators Division II Academic All-District Volleyball Team.

NCAA Championships qualifiers Alaska Anchorage and Western Washington led the conference with four selections each to the team, which honors student-athletes with high academic achievement across every level of college athletics. Nominees must be of sophomore standing or greater, be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA or greater and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s matches.

In a chance to the program for 2022-23, all nominees who met the selection and were nominated by their institutions were named to the Academic All-District Team. Institutions could nominate a maximum of four players for the team.

The Academic All-District Team includes seven of this year’s First Team All-GNAC selections, led by senior conference Player of the Year Eve Stephens. The list includes Seawolves teammate and senior setter Ellen Floyd, Northwest Nazarene senior outside hitter Natalie Sullivan, Seattle Pacific junior middle blocker Hannah Hair, Simon Fraser sophomore opposite Brooke Dexter, Western Washington senior outside hitter Calley Heilborn and senior middle blocker Chloe Roetcisoender.

Stephens are Roetcisoender are three-time Academic All-District selections while Floyd, Hair and Heilborn were named to the team for the second time.

Nominated by members of College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the Academic All-America has honored more than 38,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions since its inception in 1952.

The conference’s honorees are now eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-America Volleyball Team, which will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
