PORTLAND, Ore. – A key contributor at Montana State Billings both on the court and in her studies, Yellowjackets’ sophomore Hannah Hashbarger leads 73 total selections to the 2020-21 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes & Noble College.

One of three honorees with a 4.00 GPA as a business administration major, Hashbarger started 21 matches for MSUB as a freshman at setter, averaging 9.57 assists and 1.94 digs per set. Through five matches of the pandemic-delayed 2020-21 season, Hashbarger is averaging 9.57 assists and 2.61 digs per set with a team-leading six aces.

Also making the All-Academic Team with 4.00 GPAs is Central Washington sophomore Laynie Erickson, who is a digital journalism major, and Montana State Billings sophomore Marissa Logozzo, who is a business administration major. The squad includes 19 student-athletes with a 3.90 GPA or greater and 25 student-athletes with a 3.80 GPA or greater.

This year’s team includes a total of 33 repeat selections and 10 student-athletes who were named to the team for the third time. The three-time honorees include Alaska seniors Emily Moorhead, Lahra Weber and Cate Whiting; Alaska Anchorage senior Vera Pluharova, Central Washington senior Makala Swart, Northwest Nazarene senior Abbey Blum, Saint Martin’s junior Emily Gooding, Seattle Pacific senior Gabi Stegemoller, Simon Fraser senior Bianca Te and Western Washington senior Alison Davenport.

Saint Martin’s leads all institutions with 13 All-Academic Team selections. Central Washington had 12 selections.

To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, presented by Barnes & Noble College, nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on their team and must be in their second year at the nominating institution.
