PORTLAND, Ore. - Alaska Anchorage track & field assistant coach Ryan McWilliams has been named the NCAA Division II West Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association).

McWilliams, who is finishing up his second season as assistant coach and third overall, helped coach the Seawolves to the team title at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships on May 10-11, while helping student-athletes to school records in the 200 meters, high jump and heptathlon.

A graduate and All-American from Angelo State, McWilliams will coach national qualifiers in the heptathlon and 400-meter hurdles in this week's national meet at Pueblo, Colo.

Additionally on the men’s side, McWilliams will coach a decathlete and two javelin throwers at the NCAAs.
