Tuesday, May 16, 2023

PORTLAND, Ore. – Thirteen standout players representing four of the GNAC’s seven programs have been honored with selection to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II Academic All-District Softball Team.

Central Washington led the conference with four Academic All-District selections. Montana State Billings, Northwest Nazarene and Western Washington each finished with three selections.

Nominees to the CSC Academic All-District Teams must be of sophomore standing or greater, be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s games. Pitchers must have at least 10 innings pitched to be eligible for nomination.

In a change to the program for 2022-23, all nominees who met the selection and were nominated by their institutions were named to the Academic All-District Team. Institutions could nominate a maximum of five players for the team.

The GNAC selections include three repeat honorees. Northwest Nazarene senior Tori Hensley and junior Sidney Booth were named Academic All-District in 2022. Nighthawks senior Maia McNicoll, the 2023 GNAC Player of the Year, was an Academic All-District Team selection in 2021.

With their selections, the conference’s honorees are now eligible for consideration for CSC Academic All-America Division II Softball Team, which will be announced on June 6.
