PORTLAND, Ore. – A trio of GNAC standouts in both the classroom and on the diamonds have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 Baseball & Softball Teams.

Montana State Billings junior infielder Adam Cox was the lone GNAC selection to the Academic All-District 8 Baseball Team. Cox has a 3.71 grade point average as a criminal justice major. It is Cox’s second straight Academic All-District selection.

Concordia senior outfielder Meghan Luebbert and senior pitcher Mattie Boucher both earned selections to the Academic All-District 8 Softball Team. It is the second straight selection for Lubbert, who has a 3.80 GPA as a nursing major and was a CoSIDA Division II Academic All-American in 2016. It is the first district selection for Boucher, who carries a 3.86 GPA as a business major.

With their selections, all three are now eligble for consideration for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams. The Softball Academic All-America Team will be announced on Wed., May 24 and the Baseball All-America Team will be released on Thurs., June 1.

Cox is batting .284 this season with two home runs and 16 RBIs primarily as a first baseman and designated hitter in MSUB’s lineup. A GNAC All-Academic Team selection each of the last two season, Cox has nine doubles and a .393 on-base percentage in 88 at bats.

Luebbert, who was named First Team All-GNAC for the second straight season earlier this week, is batting a Concordia team high .453 with 14 doubles, 51 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. She also has seven home runs to go with 27 RBIs. Also a two-time GNAC All-Academic Team selection, Luebbert was selected last month as Concordia’s Outstanding Female Senior Athlete of the Year and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Boucher recorded nine victories in the circle to go along with two saves. A two-time GNAC All-Academic Team selection, Boucher had 70 strikeouts in 139.1 innings pitcheed in 34 appearances and 32 starts.
