LACEY, Wash. – Saint Martin's athletic director Bob Grisham announced that Zach Dietz will become the next head men's golf coach, starting next season.

"With Zach being an alumnus and former golfer at the University he understands what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at Saint Martin's." said Grisham. "As a former student-athlete competing in the GNAC, all this will provide for a smooth transition for the program."

Dietz graduated from Saint Martin's in 2012 and was a member of the men's golf Team throughout his college career. He was the 2009 Saint Martin's Invitational champion, was a three-time First Team All-GNAC selection (2010, 2011 and 2012) and was a part of teams that qualified for the NCAA regionals in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

"I am extremely passionate about the game of golf and I look forward to sharing that enthusiasm with this generation of collegiate athletes," said Dietz. "Kevin Bishop has done an excellent job over the last 15 years recruiting and coaching great players and I feel privileged to be inheriting such a talented team. I'm very excited to step into this role and continue to build upon the success the program has experienced."

After graduation, Dietz has worked in multiple roles within the golf industry. He was an assistant pro at Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club from 2013-2014, worked at Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona from 2014-2015 and caddied intermittently at Chambers Bay from 2010-2017, which included working the 2015 US Open.

Currently, Dietz is a PGA Associate at The Olympia Country & Golf Club and is working on attaining his PGA membership. He provides golf instruction at the club, teaches during PGA Junior League in the summer, and helps run day-to-day golf operations and club tournaments. Zach began competing in section events as a professional in 2020. He won the Washington State Assistant's Championship in 2020 and 2021.

"I am pleased that Zach Dietz has been selected as the new men's head golf coach," said Bishop. "Having played for me in my early coaching days, I know Zach to be a very competitive person who loves golf and the constant challenges and opportunities the game presents and is a good tournament player himself."

He resides in northeast Olympia with his wife Courtney and 6-month-old daughter Aspen. Dietz plays golf in his free time as well as basketball on a City League team in the area.
