LOUISVILLE, Ky. – One of the top players in the GNAC both at the plate and in the circle, Northwest Nazarene sophomore Sidney Booth has earned a spot on the Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s (NFCA) Division II National Player & Pitcher of the Year Top 50 watch list.

Booth is the only GNAC representative on the list and is among seven West Region players in contention for the NFCA’s annual awards.

A starter in all 28 Northwest Nazarene games this season, Booth has split her time between first base and pitcher. In the circle, Booth leads the GNAC with a 1.89 earned run average and nine wins in 14 starts. She ranks seventh in Division II with 14 complete games and leads the conference with 95 strikeouts. In 96.1 innings, Booth has allowed 42 runs, 32 earned, and has a .231 opponent batting average.

At the plate, Booth is fourth in the GNAC with a .415 batting average. She leads the conference and is 17th in Division II with 12 doubles and is tied for 23rd in Division II with 0.43 doubles per game. Booth also ranks third in the GNAC with a .671 slugging percentage and a .495 on-base percentage and is tied for fifth with 55 total bases.

The top 25 finalists for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player & Pitcher of the Year will be announced on May 5. A student-athlete does not have to be on the top 50 list to be considered for the top 25. The winner of each award will be announced on June 2.
