KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the GNAC’s elite scorers on the pitch are also a dynamic duo in the classroom.

Seattle Pacific senior forward Sophia Chilczuk and senior midfielder Claire Neder were named to the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women’s Scholar All-America Team, announced on May 20.

Chilczuk joins the 14-player team with a 3.92 GPA as an applied human biology major while Neder owns a 3.71 GPA as an interior design major. Both standouts were also named to the NCAA Division II Scholar All-West Region Team.

Chilczuk led the GNAC in every major offensive category in the COVID-shifted spring season. She spearheaded the Falcons’ offense and ranked first in the conference with 10 goals, 28 points and 4.75 shots per game and was tied for first with eight assists. Chilczuk notched a goal in seven of her eight matches, including three straight two-goal performances to open the season.

Neder is tied for the conference lead with Chilczuk with 38 shots and is second with 4.22 shots per game. She ranked second to Chilczuk in goals (eight) and points (21) and was tied for fourth with five assists. Neder registered four two-goal matches this spring, accounting for all eight of her goals on the season.

Seattle Pacific finished the season with an 8-0-1 record with six wins over GNAC opponents. The Falcons scored at least four goals in all nine of their matches, which included a trio of five-goal outings. Their high-scoring offense led the conference with 209 shots, 39 goals, 35 assists and 113 points.

To be eligible for Scholar All-American honors, student-athletes must be of junior academic standing or higher, own a 3.40 GPA or better, start in more than 50 percent of all games during the season and be an elite player as supported by playing honors or contributions to their teams. The honorees will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches College Awards Ceremony on June 30.
