PORTLAND, Ore. – Dan Stivers, a football official with over 20 years of experience at the high school and college levels, has been hired as the GNAC’s supervisor of football officials.

“Dan has served as a college official in the Northwest for more than a decade and we are excited to have him take over this position,” said GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. “In addition to his on-field contributions as an umpire in the GNAC, Dan has also represented the Northwest Intercollegiate Football Officials Association (NIFOA) as a board member and area representative. He has all of the personal qualities and organizational abilities to be an effective leader for a talented and committed group of college football officials.”

Stivers’ college football officiating resume includes working as the alternate official on the GNAC officiating crew selected to work the 2016 NCAA Division II national championship game and serving as an umpire during the 2019 Division II playoffs. He has also been selected for crews for NAIA playoff games in each of the last six seasons.

Stivers has worked as a high school football official in western Washington for 21 years. He has been selected to work the WIAA state high school finals in five different seasons, most recently in 2019. He served as a board member of the Western Washington Football Officials Association from 2015 to 2018 and recently completed a three-year team on the NIFOA board.

“I am excited about the opportunity and the challenges that lie ahead,” Stivers said. “We have a foundation of outstanding officials who have the privilege of representing the GNAC. My hope is to continue the legacy of producing and nurturing our officiating staff to higher levels of competition.”

A resident of Black Diamond, Washington, Stivers and his wife, Peggy, have four daughters.
