Schilder, a product of Bellingham High School and Whatcom Community College, finished his collegiate career with the Vikings in 2019-20 as one of the top shot blockers and field goal percentage leaders in WWU and Great Northwest Athletic Conference history.

The 7-foot center totaled 150 career blocked shots as a Viking, averaging 1.76 blocks per game in his 85 contests, both marks ranking fifth in WWU history. He ended his career No. 2 in GNAC history in field goal percentage, eighth in blocked shots and 10th in blocked shots per game. Additionally, he averaged 7.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during his Western career.

SKN St. Pölten is a professional basketball team that plays in the Austrian Basketball Superliga, the top basketball league in Austria. Schilder is expected to join his new team in the coming weeks.

“I’m very grateful for the chance to play professional basketball and thankful for the opportunity to represent St. Pölten for SKN this year. Can’t wait to get over to Austria and get to work,” said Schilder. “There are so many people to thank for helping get me to this point of my career. To my teammates, coaches, family and friends, thanks for being a big part of my journey…I can’t thank you enough. My last four years at WWU have helped prepare me for this moment, and am grateful for my basketball experiences at Western and Whatcom CC.”

Schilder was part of a pair of teams that advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships, with the Vikings winning the GNAC Tournament in 2017 and 2020. As a senior in 2019-20, Schilder averaged 9.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and two blocks per game while starting 26 games. Amongst GNAC leaders he ranked second in field goal percentage (.611, 99 for 162), fourth in rebounding and second in blocked shots per game.
