PORTLAND, Ore. – A trio of sophomores who have contributed to their teams while maintaining perfect grade point averages leads a total of 92 selections to the 2017 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team.

Montana State Billings defender Amanda Hemmen, Northwest Nazarene midfielder Maddy Midstokke and Western Oregon midfielder Selene Konyn lead the annual list of exceptional academic performers. Honorees for the GNAC All-Academic Teams must be of sophomore standing or better, be in their second season competing for their current team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.

Hemmen, a biology major, has started nine matches for the Yellowjackets and played in 12. She has one goal and one assist on the season. Midstokke, a secondary education major, has been a relied-upon reserve for the Nighthawks, appearing in all 14 matches and has two assists on the season. Konyn, an early childhood education major, has played in all 12 matches for the Wolves, starting eight.

The trio is among 14 honorees who boast GPAs of 3.90 or higher. The list includes Concordia’s Ana Delgadillo and Rebecca Harris; Montana State Billings’ Lili Delgadillo and Jordan Devoto; Northwest Nazarene’s Olivia Carter, Corrinah Schaefer, Madi Taylor and Tennyson Young; Seattle Pacific’s Simone Herzberg and Emma Young; and Western Oregon’s Breanna Ihara.

Of the 92 honorees on this year’s team, 42 are repeat selections and 16 are three-time selections. Herzberg leads the three-time honorees, boasting a 3.97 GPA as a physiology major. In all, the Falcons have five three-time honorees including Maddy Booster, Brooke Holland, Mickayla Mury and Molly Stinson. Central Washington also five three-time honorees in Karlee Goehner, Abbie Litka, Whitney Lowe, Shaina Mitchell and Mackenzie Nolte.

Other three-time All-Academic honorees include Concordia’s Ana Delgadillo and Martha Heaps; Montana State Billings’ Jessica Spang, Northwest Nazarene’s Mabinty Kanu and Daniele Ortiz and Western Washington’s Emily Webster.

A total of 11 players named to the All-Academic Team were 2016 All-GNAC selections, led by Webster, Nolte and Ana Delgadillo.

Seattle Pacific had 17 representatives on the All-Academic Team, accounting for 68 percent of their roster. Northwest Nazarene had 15 honorees, Concordia finished with 13, Central Washington had 12 and Montana State Billings had 11.
