COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Jumping out to a commanding 14-stroke advantage through the opening two rounds of play, Simon Fraser used a blistering pace to lead all teams on the first day of the 2018 GNAC Men’s Golf Championships, hosted at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course.

On the back of a tournament-low 6-under par 65 in the second round, Simon Fraser’s Craig Titterington finished the opening day in first place at 4-under par 136. Simon Fraser dominated the opening two rounds of play as it placed four of its five players within the top-five and with a two-round score of 2-under par 566.

After carding a 5-under par 66 in the opening round, Simon Fraser’s Chris Crisologo ended the day tied for second at even-par while Sy Lovan and Scott Kerr tied for fourth place at 2-over par 144. The Clan combined for 33 birdies, eight of which came from Titterington.

Finishing the day in second place, Western Washington fired a team score of 580.  Ethan Casto paced the Vikings with a 4-over par 172 to end in third place. His day was highlighted by a first-round 67 that included six total birdies.

Despite shooting a 78 in the opening round, Brody Bonfilio ended the day tied for sixth after shaving four strokes off his second-round score to shoot a 4-under par 67. Cody Roth enters the final day in 11th with a two-round total of 145.

Leading Saint Martin’s in sixth place is Andrew Raab, who ended the first day firing a 3-over par 145. Raab paced a Saints team that closed the evening at 605. In his first tournament appearance, freshman Tyler Fitchett is tied for 12th with a 7-over par 149.

Shooting a 5-over par 76 in the first round, Concordia’s Nick Huff bounced back to finish the day tied for eighth at 4-over par 146. He leads a Concordia team that sits in third at 591. Teammate Tanner Huddleston fired a team-low 72 in the opening round.

Carding a 72 in the first round, Caleb Stetzner paced Montana State Billings as he ended the day four strokes over par. The Yellowjackets enter the final round with a 614. Northwest Nazarene enters tomorrow in fourth place with Henry Bernard leading the charge at 146. He shot a pair of 73’s while teammate Andrew Cortez carded a 152.   

The final round of the GNAC Men’s Golf Championships tees off on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
