PORTLAND, Ore. – With five GNAC teams in action this week, it was a pair of underclassmen who paced the conference. In the Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational, Western Washington freshman Brody Bonfilio led all GNAC players after tying for first place with a 1-under par 215 (66-74-75). It was Montana State Billings sophomore Garrett Woodin that stood out for the Yellowjackets as he ended Tuesday’s Warrior Invitational tied for 15th after carding a 5-over par 150.

Just a trio of conference teams will be in action next week. Concordia, Saint Martin’s and Simon Fraser all partake in The Battle at Goose Creek in Jurupa Valley, Calif., on Mar. 19-20 while the remaining three GNAC teams resume action on Mar. 26.

CONCORDIA

• Concordia had last week off after tying for ninth place in the East/West Bay Area Invitational on Feb. 26-27. The Cavs resume spring action next week when they are one of three GNAC teams to partake in the Battle at Goose Creek in Jurupa Valley, Calif.

• Junior Isaac Hall is second in the GNAC with a 72.2 stroke average while sophomore Jaxson Daskalos and junior Braeden Campbell lead the team with 15 rounds played.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
LAST WEEK: Warrior Invitational, 6th of 11, 609 (299-310).
THIS WEEK: Idle
• On Tuesday, the Yellowjackets came away with a sixth-place finish at the Warrior Invitational, hosted by Winona State in Las Vegas, Nev. Sophomore Garrett Woodin paced MSUB with a tie for 15th place after carding a two-round score of 149. After firing a 5-over par 77 in the opening round, Woodin bounced back to score even-par in the final round.

• Sophomore Caleb Stetzner was second on Montana State Billings by shooting a 150 (73-77). He ended the tournament tied for 18th while junior Scott Larson tied for 29th (153, 73-80).

• Stetzner is sixth in the GNAC with a 74.1 stroke average. Woodin, freshman Caleb Trost and freshman Riley Kaercher have all played 17 rounds this season.

• Montana State Billings will have next week off and return to action on Mar. 26 when it takes its home course for the Yellowjacket Spring Invitational.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
LAST WEEK: Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational, 8th of 10, 946 (306-312-328).
THIS WEEK: Idle
• Earlier this week, Northwest Nazarene was among four GNAC teams participating in the NDNU Argonaut Invitational, finishing in eighth place.

• For the second straight tournament, sophomore Henry Bernard was the Nighthawks’ leading finisher after he ended in a three-way tie for 16th place. After carding a 7-over par 79 in the second round, Bernard was able to shave three points off his final scorecard to finish 11-over for the tournament.

• Freshman Isaac Emerson tied for 34th (238, 77-77-84) while sophomore Drew Lunt finished a stroke behind him for a 36th place finish.

• Bernard, Emerson and junior Justin Higgins lead the Nighthawks in rounds played with 19 this season. Among the three, Bernard paces the pack with 76.2 strokes per round.

• With next week off, Northwest Nazarene returns to action on Mar. 26 when it takes Indio, Calif., for the Desert Intercollegiate.

SAINT MARTINS
LAST WEEK: Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational, 6th of 10, 927 (308-301-318).
THIS WEEK: Mar. 19-20 at the Battle at Goose Creek, Jurupa Valley, Calif.
• Despite a rough third round, Saint Martin’s was able to finish sixth at the Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational. The Saints opened rounds one and two with scores of 308 and 301 but was unable to find their rhythm over the final 18 holes as they ended with a three-day total of 318.

• Junior Trevor Frisby paced the Saints with a ninth-place finish by carding 7-over par. Frisby carded a first round score of 74 before recording scores of 73 and 76 on the final day. Frisby adds another top-10 finish to his name, making it two for the season.

• Finishing in a tie for 24th, senior Andrew Raab had his best round come on the opening day of play when he carded a 3-over par 75 in the second round. Raab is one of four Saints to play all 18 rounds this season and maintains a 76.3 stroke average.

• Frisby is seventh in the GNAC with 74.4 strokes per round while freshman Tyler Fitchett is at a 76.1 stroke average. Fitchett and Raab have each garnered top-10 finishes this season.

• The Saints will be one of three GNAC teams to play in The Battle at Goose Creek next Monday in Jurupa Valley, Calif.

SIMON FRASER
LAST WEEK: Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational, 3rd of 10, 891 (299-288-304).
THIS WEEK: Mar. 19-20 at the Battle of Goose Creek, Jurupa Valley, Calif.
• In its second tournament of the spring season, Simon Fraser came away with a third-place finish at the Notre Dame de Namur Argonaut Invitational to lead all GNAC teams.

• Appearing for the first time this spring, senior Chris Crisologo led the Clan with a tie for third after ending even par for the tournament. Crisologo fired a 71 and 70 in the opening two rounds before finishing the event with a 75 for a three-day total of 216.

• Junior Marcus Brown turned in another solid performance with a 13th place finish. The junior ended the tournament shooting a 9-over par 225.

• Consistent his entire career, Crisologo achieved his fifth top-five finish this season and leads the GNAC with a 70.6 stroke average. Sophomore Sy Lovan ended the NDNU Invitational tied for 16th and is second on the team with 73.9 strokes per round.

• In the latest Golf Coaches Association of America Division II Rankings, Simon Fraser is among teams receiving votes with 45.

• Simon Fraser will be one of three GNAC teams traveling to Jurupa Valley, Calif., next Monday to play in The Battle at Goose Creek.

WESTERN WASHINGTON

• Western Washington finished in a fourth-place tie with Dominican after earning a 906 (195-308-303) at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational on Tuesday.

• In one of his best collegiate performances, freshman Brody Bonfilio tied for first after finishing 1-under par (215, 66-74-75). Bonfilio carded a tournament-low of 66 in the opening round before ending the day with a second-round 74.

• Junior Michael Butler was the second-highest Vikings’ finisher after tying for 11th. Butler fired an 8-over par 224 while senior Adam Barker placed 23rd after shaving four strokes off his second round total to end 17-over par.

• Bonfilio leads the Vikings with a 73.3 stroke average. Butler, sophomore Ethan Casto and junior Cody Roth have played a team-high 18 rounds this season.

• Western Washington has the following week off and will resume play at the Southern California Intercollegiate in Santee, Calif., on March 26.
