PORTLAND, Ore. – With the first two weeks of the spring season in the rear-view, a quartet of GNAC teams will have the majority of March off as the GNAC Championships approach on April 23. In last week’s Lancer Joust, Simon Fraser led the GNAC with an eighth-place finish while Concordia tied for 12th.

Joining four other GNAC squads in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout earlier this week, Simon Fraser paced the conference once again after tying for 5th with a team score of 633 (318-315).

Concordia and Western Washington have the remainder of March off and will resume action on April 2 and 9, respectively. Northwest Nazarene, Saint Martin’s and Simon Fraser will have a couple weeks off as well while Montana State Billings is the only GNAC team to play in next week’s Warrior Invitational, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nev.

• Sophomore Cammie Decker led the Cavs at the Lancer Joust after carding a 7-over par 157 that placed her in a seven-way tie for 31st place. 

• Finishing tied for 42nd was junior Shantel Antonio who shot a 160 (78-82). Two strokes behind Antonio was freshman Staesha Flock who fired a 162 (81-81).  

• Of the five Cavaliers who have played in all 10 rounds this season, Antonio leads the team with 78.2 strokes per round. Decker is right behind her with 78.5.

• The Cavaliers have the month of March off and will next play in the Sonoma State Spring Invitational on April 2.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS

THIS WEEK: Mar. 11-12 at Warrior Invitational, Las Vegas, Nev.

• Montana State Billings opens up its spring season as the only GNAC team playing in the Warrior Invitational next Monday in Las Vegas, Nev.

• Junior Shealyn Hafer leads the team with 80.8 strokes per round while senior Bailee Dexter is second with an average of 81.6 strokes per round.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
LAST WEEK: Lancer Joust, 18th of 18, 689 (338-351). Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, 12th of 14, 692 (353-339)
THIS WEEK: Mar. 25-26 at the Bulldog Classic, Indio, Calif.

• At the Lancer Joust, freshman Trinity McCarthy shot a second-round 14-over par 85 to pace the Nighthawks.

• For the two-day tournament, McCarthy carded a 176 while sophomore Natalie Beggrow finished with a second-round 86 on Tuesday to end the event tied for 82nd at 169.

• In the final round of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout earlier this week, junior Stephanie Miller led NNU’s second-round efforts after carding an 89 and 82 for a two-day total of 171 to finish 61st. She leads the team with 84.9 strokes per round.

• Northwest Nazarene is back in action on March 26 at the Bulldog Classic hosted by the Univ. of Redlands in Indio, Calif.

SAINT MARTINS
LAST WEEK: Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, 16th of 17, 723 (363-360).
THIS WEEK: Mar. 15-16 at Augustana Spring Fling, Palm Desert, Calif.

• The Saints improved by three strokes on the second day of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout for a 16th place finish.

• After shooting a team-low 83 on Monday, junior Celia Beyke shaved two strokes off her score to end with a two-day total of 164 and a tie for 44th. Meanwhile, junior TiAnna Ford carded a second round score of 87 for a total of two-day score of 177.

• Beyke leads the team with 80.3 strokes per round through seven rounds this season.

•Saint Martin's returns to action on March 15-16 for the Augustana Spring Fling hosted by Augustana Univ. The tournament will be played in Palm Desert, California.

SIMON FRASER

THIS WEEK: Idle

• Belinda Lin led GNAC golfers at the spring season-opening Lancer Joust as the junior carded a two-round score of 10-over par 154 to finish in a tie for 19th place. She led the Clan to an eighth-place team finish. 

• Junior Emily Leung finished tied for 38th after rounds of 78 and 80 for a 14-over par 158. Senior Michelle Waters (78-82) finished in a tie for 47th while sophomore Jaya Rampuri (84-79) tied for 59th.

• In the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout earlier this week, Lin fired rounds of 78 and 77 to lead Simon Fraser to a fifth-place finish.

• Leung finished two shots back of Lin for a share of 16th after carding a 13-over par 157 (77-80). Leung leads the Clan with 76.4 strokes per round and is one of three players on the team to play in all seven tournaments this season.

• Simon Fraser has next week off and will resume action on March 19-20 when it plays in the Otter Invitational at Pebble Beach, Calif.

WESTERN WASHINGTON
LAST WEEK: Lancer Joust, 16th of 18, 652 (328-324). Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, 12th of 17, 657 (330-327)
THIS WEEK: Idle

• At the Lancer Joust, the Vikings shaved four strokes off their team score to finish the tournament in 16th place. Junior Stephanie Sewell led the Vikings after carding a 161 for a 51st place finish.

• Senior Jenn Paul, junior Annie Leete and freshman Megan Billeter all finished in a tie for 63rd at 20-over par 164. Paul leads the Vikings averaging 79.3 strokes per round this season.

• In the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout earlier this week, Paul carded back-to-back rounds of 6-over par to finish with a two-round total of 156. In addition to Paul’s top-15 finish, Sewell tied for 44th at 21-over par while Leete tied for 52nd at 168.

• The Vikings have the rest of March off and will next feature in the Mustang Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz., on April 9.

Belinda Lin (Simon Fraser, Jr., Surrey, B.C. – Semiahmoo): Lin led GNAC golfers at the spring season-opening Lancer Joust as the junior carded a two-round score of 10-over-par 154 to finish in a tie for 19th place. She led the Clan to an eighth-place team finish.
