PORTLAND, Ore. – Western Washington’s Georg Cholewa’s week keeps getting better.

A day after earning GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, the Vikings’ junior midfielder was named the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Cholewa recorded six points in two matches last week, scoring a pair of goals and distributing two assists. He assisted on both goals in the Vikings’ 2-1 win at Montana State Billings on Thursday then followed with a two-goal performance, which included the game-winner in the 77th minute, in the Vikings’ 2-1 win at Simon Fraser on Saturday.

A First Team All-GNAC selection in 2018, Cholewa has started in 12 of Western Washington’s 13 matches this season, tallying four goals, a GNAC-leading five assists and 13 points on the season.

Riding a five-match win streak, Western Washington is 9-3-1 (6-0-1 GNAC) on the season and sits in first place in the conference standings with five matches remaining. The Vikings were tabbed at No. 23 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. Up next, the Vikings will begin a four-match home stand as they host Seattle Pacific on Thursday.
