PORTLAND, Ore. – Pressed into service as Northwest Nazarene’s starting goalkeeper as a sophomore, Alex Nadermann is showing his potential to perform both on the pitch and in the classroom as he leads 56 student-athletes named to the 2019 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team.

Nadermann is the only honoree on the squad with a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average, earning that as an engineering major. A starter in eight of the Nighthawks’ nine matches this season, Nadermann has a 1.73 goals against average and a 4-4 record. He ranks fifth in the GNAC with 23 saves and 2.88 saves per match and is seventh in the league in goals against average.

The sophomore is one of 13 student-athletes named to the squad with a GPA of 3.80 or higher.

Of the 56 honorees to the Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team, 27 earned selection for the second time. Ten student-athletes were named to the squad for a third time: Concordia senior Noah Swigart, Saint Martin’s seniors Collin LaBranche and Sebastian Navarro along with junior Treyson Ramos and Dylan Shaw; Seattle Pacific senior Trevor Lee and Western Washington seniors Taylor Allen, Jeremiah Lee, Nick Phillips, Christian Rotter and Cameron Unks.

Both Concordia and Western Washington placed 11 players on the All-Academic Team to lead the seven conference programs.

To earn selection to the GNAC All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or greater, have a minimum cumulative 3.20 GPA, be a letterwinner with her team and must be in her second season at the nominating institution.
