PORTLAND, Ore. – A pair of three-goal performances for Simon Fraser senior forward Jenna-lee Baxter and Saint Martin’s junior forward Brandon Madsen puts the scoring duo on top of the GNAC Player of the Week list.

Baxter notched her first career hat trick in the Clan’s 5-0 shutout at Montana State Billings on Thursday, earning her selection as GNAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. She scored all three goals in the first 47 minutes of the match and also had an assist to finish with seven points in the match.

Madsen, the selection for Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, netted his three-goal performance in a 4-2 win over Montana State Billings in Lacey on Saturday. He tallied all three goals in the first half and scored his first two goals over the opening 11 minutes of the match.

A pair of midfielders picked up the soccer defensive awards for the week. Seattle Pacific senior Julia DeVere was named the Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after she keyed the SPU defense in a 3-0 shutout of Central Washington on Thursday and a 1-1 tie of Concordia on Saturday. She had two assists against CWU and scored the game-tying goal at Concordia.

Western Washington junior Jeremiah Lee was named the Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after he led the Vikings defense in a 3-0 shutout of Northwest Nazarene on Thursday and a 5-1 win over Seattle Pacific on Saturday. He played 173 of a possible 180 minutes.

Central Washington picked up two of the three gridiron weekly awards as the Wildcats beat Humboldt State 62-24 to earn a share of its second straight GNAC championship. Senior running back Cedric Cooper was named the Football Offensive Player of the Week after he carried 18 times for 97 yards and four of the Wildcats’ seven rushing touchdowns, which tied a GNAC single-game record.

Junior linebacker Tevin Gray was named the Football Defensive Player of the Week after he finished with seven tackles and had both CWU interceptions in the victory. He returned one of those picks 28 yards for a second-quarter touchdown and also blocked the team’s 10th kick of the season.

Humboldt State sophomore safety Adam Herrera earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after he returned eight kicks for a total of 193 yards. He averaged 24.1 yards per return and had a long return of 45 yards.

After helping Western Washington claim a share of the GNAC volleyball championship, senior middle blocker Michaela Hall was selected as the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Hall finished with 26 kills, seven blocks and a .425 hitting percentage in a pair of three-set sweeps of Simon Fraser and Montana State Billings. Her week was led by 14 kills, four blocks and a .522 hitting percentage on Thursday at Montana State Billings.

Central Washington senior blocker Sarah Joffs picked up the Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award after she had 14 blocks, seven in each match, of the Wildcats’ three-set sweeps of Seattle Pacific and Saint Martin’s.

On the links, Concordia senior Shantel Antonio was named the Women’s Golf Player of the Week after she tied for medalist honors at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational. She carded a two-round score of 3-over-par 147, including a low round of 2-under-par 70 on the opening 18 holes.

GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK SELECTIONS – WEEK 10
FOOTBALL
Offensive: Cedric Cooper (Central Washington, RB, 5-11, 185, Sr., Seattle, Wash. – Southwestern Oklahoma State Univ.): Cooper carried 18 times for 97 yards and had four of the Wildcats’ seven rushing touchdowns, which tied a GNAC single-game record. Two of those touchdowns came in the first quarter and three came in the first half in the Wildcats’ 62-24 win over Humboldt State, which allowed CWU to clinch a share of the GNAC championship. Also Nominated: Tyree Marzetta (Humboldt State), Omari Land (Western Oregon).

Defensive: Tevin Gray (Central Washington, LB, 5-11, 185, Jr., Lake Stevens, Wash. – Lake Stevens): Gray finished with seven tackles and made two interceptions in the Wildcats’ 62-24 win over Humboldt State. He ran one of those interceptions back 28 yards for a second-quarter touchdown. Gray also blocked a field goal attempt to run CWU’s total to 10 blocked kicks on the season. Special Teams: Adam Herrera (Humboldt State, S, 5-11, 205, So., Los Banos, Calif. – Los Banos): Herrera returned eight kicks for a total of 193 yards in the Lumberjacks’ 62-24 loss to Central Washington. He averaged 24.1 yards per return and had a long return of 45 yards. Also Nominated: Kyler Ooley (Central Washington).

MEN’S SOCCER
Offensive: Brandon Madsen (Saint Martin’s, F, 6-2, Jr., Auburn, Wash. – Seattle Univ.): Madsen notched a hat trick in the Saints’ lone match of the week, a 4-2 win over Montana State Billings on Saturday. He scored his first two goals off a pair of Oscar Aguilar assists in the first 11 minutes of the match and netted his third goal in the 41st minute. Also Nominated: Nicholas Denley (Concordia), Mamadi Camara (Simon Fraser), Christian Rotter (Western Washington).

Defensive: Jeremiah Lee (Western Washington, M/D, 6-4, Jr., Marysville, Wash. – Grace Academy): Lee played 173 minutes out of a possible 180 minutes and keyed the Vikings to a pair of victories at home. Lee keyed a WWU defense that allowed Northwest Nazarene just five shots in a 3-0 shutout on Thursday. Lee then played all 90 minutes as it held Seattle Pacific to three shots on goal in a 5-1 win on Saturday. Also Nominated: Grant Alcorn (Concordia), Sebastian Navarro (Saint Martin’s).

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Offensive: Jenna-lee Baxter (Simon Fraser, M, 5-3, Sr., Surrey, B.C. – Fraser Heights): Baxter netted another hat trick for the Clan on four shots in Thursday’s 5-0 shutout at Montana State Billings. She collected two goals in the first half and netted the third off Emma Pringle’s assist in the 47th minute. Baxter also had an assist in the match. Baxter then launched five shots, one on goal, in Saturday’s loss at Northwest Nazarene. Also Nominated: Kyra Radcliffe (Concordia), Amber Whitmore (Western Oregon), Zoe Milburn (Western Washington).

Defensive: Julia DeVere (Seattle Pacific, M, 5-3, Sr., Bellingham, Wash. – Squalicum): DeVere keyed the Seattle Pacific defense that surrendered just one goal as the Falcons beat Central Washington on Tuesday, 3-0, and tied Concordia on Saturday, 1-1, keeping the Cavaliers from a share of the GNAC regular-season championship. DeVere had a pair of assists against the Wildcats as SPU limited the Wildcats to three shots on goal. DeVere had the game-tying goal in the 79th minute at Concordia as the defense allowed just one goal on 19 shots. Also Nominated: McKenna Stocker (Concordia), Jacky Beristain (Western Oregon), Taylor Hallquist (Western Washington).

VOLLEYBALL
Offensive: Michaela Hall (Western Washington, MB, 6-1, Sr., Centralia, Wash. – Centralia): Hall led the Vikings with 26 kills, seven blocks and a .425 hitting percentage as Western Washington swept both Simon Fraser and Montana State Billings to claim a share of the GNAC championship. Hall finished with a match-high of 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage to go with three blocks against Simon Fraser on Tuesday. She then finished with a match-high 14 kills, .522 hitting percentage and four blocks at Montana State Billings on Thursday. Also Nominated: Tara Melton (Alaska Anchorage), Shelby Mauritson (Central Washington), Tori Johnson (Concordia), Rachel Gondrezick (Saint Martin’s), Biance Te (Simon Fraser), Mariella Vandenkooy (Western Oregon).

Defensive: Sarah Joffs (Central Washington, MB, 6-0, Sr., Yakima, Wash. – West Valley): Joffs finished with 14 blocks and also had seven kills in a pair of three-set road sweeps over Seattle Pacific and Saint Martin’s. Joffs finished with seven blocks and five kills against the Falcons on Thursday and then had seven blocks to go with a dig and two kills on Saturday against the Saints. Also Nominated: Taylor Noga (Alaska Anchorage), Elyssa Rose (Concordia), Izela Alvarez (Montana State Billings), Courtney Misner (Saint Martin’s), Sierra Shultz (Western Oregon), Kayleigh Harper (Western Washington).

GOLF
Women: Shantel Antonio (Concordia, Sr., Hilo, Hawaii – Univ. of Hawaii-Hilo): Antonio tied for medalist honors at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, showing a two-round score of 3-over-par 147 to tie with Megan Daleo of Sonoma State. Antonio had her tournament-low of 2-under-par 70 in the opening round. She led the Cavaliers to a third-place finish out of 12 teams.
